A very well established MMORPG, running for over 6 years. Not only does this now have 9 adventure packs (add-ons) but a free-to-play version makes this a very nice game. Choose to be a magic-slinging, wizard, an armoured killing machine, or keep your allies alive with healing magic as you wander through the lands of Norath. Own and decorate your own house, go fishing, or roam the land looking for collectables. There's so much to do.

The only MMORPG that is based on the J.R.R. Tolkien novels of the same name. Become an elf, human or hobbit as you take on adventures that parallel the quest undertaken by Frodo himself. Player vs. player combat can see you taking on the role of one of the many minions of evil, scouring the land and the heroes of Middle-earth. Lord of the Rings online - also features a free option, where you can experience most of Middle-earth for free.

Eve Online is a further example of a solid MMORPG that has lasted. Choose your race and ship and explore a highly detailed and vast universe, where the true perils of deep space come to light. Mine for resources, create and sell a variety of items, defend outposts from pirates or become a pirate yourself and attack other ships to gain your fortune, in one of the most advanced and realistic player economy's.

In Champions Online, you create the hero you want to be, in one of the most detailed character creation tools in an MMORPG. Choose from a number of looks, skill sets, travel powers and alternate costumes to create your ultimate hero to take on the crime of Millennium City. As you grow in power, you'll gain nemesis' (designed by you) who will attempt to thwart your heroes actions at every turn. The crime lords of Millennium City and their henchmen are out to destroy everything...You're not gonna let that happen though, are you?

Warhammer online - brings the power of Realm vs. Realm combat. Every quest, every skirmish, every battle has a consequence on the land. Fight for resources, take lands, and ultimately bring the fight back to your enemies. Play as the noble Humans, Elves or Dwarves to protect the land or help the Greenskins, hordes of Chaos and Dark Elves vanquish the light.

Guild Wars is one of the few completely free MMORPG's available, all the content is available to you without having to pay a penny. Create your character and as you advance in level you are able to choose your skills from any of the class types available, so your hero can grow as you want them to. Either view the beautiful and lush world of Tyria alone, or join with others to defeat challenges together, in either case this game brings it all together for no monthly fee.

Based on the Robert E. Howard's original Conan series, Age of Conan brings a level of bloodthirsty brutality to the MMORPG genre. Decapitate the land of Hyboria's enemies, or burn them to a crisp with your powerful combat skills and magic. Ride powerful steeds, such as horses or maMMORPGths across the rolling landscapes or join with other adventurers to help build your own town, complete with town house, battlements and shops and townsfolk. All of this wrapped up in a graphically well presented MMORPG.

In 'Star Trek: Online' you become a captain of your own ship. Hire your own crew, train their skills venture forth to boldly go where no-one has gone before. Visit unknown planets, engage in ship-to-ship battles, or land on a planet and engage in third-person action on the planets' surface. Star Trek: Online brings Roddenberry's universe into your own hands.

Final Fantasy XIV is unique amongst MMORPG's in that you can become anything you want to simply by equipping a different weapon. Equip a sword to improve your swordsman ability, switch to a lance you gain a different set of skills, or equip your cooking tools and develop that skill. The lands Eorzea's have been beautifully rendered, and the different areas come alive with the native people and creatures of those lands. All of this is interspersed with more high quality FMV cut-scenes to help guide your character along the epic storylines of FFXIV.
